New Baby Food Recipe

My baby boy eats a tonne.... and I hate buying prepackaged baby food..... don't get me started...

Anyway, I am always trying to think of different things to feed him to mix it up a little.

He loves apples but I hate cooking them, and I hate buying tiny little cans of them that cost a fortune.... so I thought, and I thought, and I came up with an idea...

I mixed some fork mashed pie apple with some rice cereal and a tablespoon of natural yogurt.... He loves it :-)

All the goodness of apples and yogurt with no added sugar.

Now, how to store the pie apple, usually I would freeze left over vegies in ice block trays and turn out into a ziplock bag when frozen.... but there is just too much apple.  So, I spread it all out in a large sadwich ziplock bag and have attempted to put creases in the sheet of apple so that it can be broken up like a block of chocolate... hope it works... will let you know.

Do you have any great baby food recipes??? I would love to know...

Don't laugh. Seriously, don't laugh. I used to feed my babies a mixture of cooked sweet potato and banana. I had the carbs well covered.

Sweet potato and banana sounds great .... for a baby. lol. I haven't any baby food recipes, I probably starved them all, can't remember but it is really quick and easy to peel and cut your apple in large chunks and just zap it in the microwave. Toss up between microwaves and tin cans? You only need a tiny bit of water or maybe even none and I think I cover it with glad wrap. Only takes a couple of minutes to stewed apples and icecream. Yumm. Cherrie

Ugh! I think making baby food is the worst part of having babies. I have no secrets for you, just get through this stage and on to the firm stuff that they can hold them selves asap.

I agree Kate, he likes his toast but only gives it a really good sucking. Thanks Nessa, I will try that. Cherrie, I tried the apple in the microwave but there is just no sweetness, they are always sour and he wont eat it. Oh and the freezer chocolate style worked a treat for storing all the apple.
