New Fabrics for Summer

I am currently ordering fabrics for this seasons swimwear.

I just love this fabric called enchanted Forest.

I will be ordering the fabric a few at a time so some will be available soon and for some there will be a four week wait.

Buying fabric is so inspiring! I find it hard not to cut into it and use it for something other than swimwear.

Check out the Fabric Choices page of my Blog to see all the fabrics I am now offering.

I gotta love a yellow chevron.....

I can't wait to see these vintage checks made up into a cute bikini.

There are twenty different fabrics on offer and I will be adding more as I find things that inspire me.

To see what other crafting I have been up to lately check out my instagram feed....
My username is of course Monetpaisley.

If you are not on instagram yet, you are missing out! Seriously..... It's the new black.

Elisabeth Murdoch Walk

Yesterday saw us in the Frankston area visiting relatives....

My sister in law took us to see the Elisabeth Murdoch Walk. We had a picnic lunch by the duck pond and then took a tour of the gardens which consisted of many many amazing art installations.

So much to see, definitely worth a look if you are in the area. There is more art in the indoor gallery.... Amazing stuff!

And also a nice restaurant for when the kids don't tag along....

In other news I popped into Brunswick tonight in an attempt to attend the 'feather your nest' art installation at Gleaners inc.

Alas we were too late and missed out on all the fun. Liz let us (myself and Wendy from The textured leaf) have a quick peak but we will have to return later in the month for another look at all the wonderful goodies at Gleaners Inc.

Hopefully next time we can bring home some souvenirs....

PMTea

I was interested to hear on the blogvine that Ms Julia Gillard had tea with some blogging ladies the other day. I asked Mr Google who these lovely blogging ladies were, as I felt certain, being bloggers, such lovely ladies would be sure to make a permanent record of such a fabulous event.

Sure enough I stumbled across Edenland. I eagerly devoured her story and was glad to find links to other blogging ladies that attended the PM's morning tea affectionately dubbed PMTea by Kerri Sackville, also at the "PMTea". I smiled to myself, and even laughed out loud (sorry but I refuse to use lol in a sentence) while reading Kerri's interpretation of events.

Another entertaining yarn about the PMTea was told by Mrs Woog. This is in two parts so be sure to read both.

I was very happy to hear that Ms Gillard enjoys knitting and think it rather lovely that she made the time to have tea with such lovely ladies.

I will leave you with some of my recent accomplishments.....

Red velvet cake! Yum!!!!

Before shot of the red velvet cake with mascarpone and whipped cream frosting.....

Bunting being made from vintage sheet fat quarters that I got on etsy.

Finished bunting (you can't see all the flags, some are hidden) oh and I made three of these.

Tonight I have been cutting out some dresses to be sewn as soon as I get my overlocker. I usually French seam all my swimwear but if I am going to make any dresses to sell I really need an overlocker. I popped into cash converters and spotted a Janome for $150. I thought this was expensive but was surprised to find that they are not too much cheaper on eBay. There are pros and cons to getting anything from the local pawn shop, one of the biggest cons being that maybe i am being conned. Any advice would be welcome. And if anyone is looking to sell an overlocker (preferably cheaper than cash converters) that would be welcome too :-)

Might get back to cutting out.... Have a lovely evening.

Quilting

I have been sewing madly these last few days.... Every spare moment I have is spent at the sewing machine. I am so close to completion on this double bed quilt that I am giddy.

The fabrics are a mix of quilting fabrics from a recent spotlight sale and some beautiful textured wool fabrics that I thrifted. There is also some vintage sheets in there and two glorious vintage upholstery fabrics. Can you spot them?

Unfortunately this huge quilt is for my sister so I am going to miss it. I will have to make regular plans to go and visit. And make myself one for my bed. (I seriously do not know how I am going to get a king size quilt to fit in my sewing machine. I now understand the need for a long arm quilting machine :-) any advice would be welcome)

In other bad news the only photos I have are instagram shots in really bad light.

Hopefully some finished shots tomorrow..... With a real camera.... In the beautiful daylight.

Take care :-)

I will leave you with a shot of the breakfast I just enjoyed in my favourite sovereign pottery bowl, made by Johnson brothers in australia. And my favourite teacup the in Kaiser from, get this, west Germany! I love that this teacup was made in Germany before the wall came down..... Very historical :-)

Flea Market Finds

This Friday just gone I popped into one of my favourite op-shops for a quick poke around and spotted this most magnificent vintage print.

I knew it would look amazing above my sofa and was just the right size and colour. I imagined it to be way out of my price range (the few gold coins at the bottom of my handbag)..... I could have peed my pants when I discovered it was only $5 !!!

I am joining in with her library adventures 'flea market finds' today and it would be lovely if you could pop by her blog and check out some of the other fantastic finds.....

Bunting

My sister is having a tea party in a few days and asked me to make her some bunting to dress up the patio.

I used some vintage sheets and this tutorial

The triangles are much smaller than I thought they would be but I think it looks just perfect.
And the hawthorn tree is just the place for it.

I now have requests for gift bags full of goodies like make-up purses and bookmarks.

I also need to make more bunting, cushions and I mustn't forget the red-velvet cake.

I think I am owed big time.
Will be sure to get some photos of all the goodies....

In the Etsy Newsletter

Thanks Jay from Finki for alerting me to the fact that MonetPaisley Swimwear was in the Etsy Newsletter.

If you've popped over from my etsy store, thanks for stopping by.

I have a few materials left but am running out fast.  I plan on ordering some more next week.  I'll let you know what I decide on as soon as I'm sure myself.

We're in holiday mode here as my husband has just knocked of work fo a few days and it's looking like a gorgeous beach day.  I kept the kids home so they can spend some quality time with their Dad, we might even go for a fish.
